Before you get started working with your crystals, it is important to cleanse and then charge them.  Cleansing your crystals will ensure that they do not hold any residual energy, from other people or environments (or from previously working with them).  This will allow all of the crystal's energy to be solely focused on working for you and the intentions you set upon them.  By charging your crystals you are giving them more energy, allowing the crystal's energy to intensify and work harder on the intentions you have set.  There are a few different ways you can cleanse and charge your crystals, and some methods don't require you to purchase anything to do so!

SELENITE

Selenite is a beautiful crystal which has a pure and cleansing energy.  The wonderful thing about selenite is that it cleanses other crystals whilst also charging them, making this the easiest way to do so.   All you have to do is set your crystals so that they are touching the selenite and leave them for 24 hours.  That's it! After 24 hours your crystals will be thoroughly cleansed and charged by the Selenite and you can begin using them.

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.

PALO SANTO INCENSE

Palo Santo sticks have been used for centuries for its cleansing and purification qualities.  When burned it produces a beautiful sweet aroma which can be used to cleanse your crystals, as well as cleansing energy within your home, or cleansing your aura.  To cleanse your crystals using this method all you have to do is 'smudge' or pass the smoke around your crystals. In recent years Palo Santo has become extremely popular and has caused unsustainable harvesting, if you wish to use this method please ensure you are purchasing your incense from a sustainable source.

WATER

Water can be used to cleanse your crystals, however you must ensure they are water safe before doing so. Crystals such as Rose Quartz, Amethyst, Aventurine and Jasper are perfectly safe to cleanse with water.  Generally crystals which name ends in 'ite' (malachite, fluorite etc) are not water safe.  To cleanse you crystals with water it is best to use natural water, such as sea water, rain water or water from a flowing river (do not put yourself in harms way to collect water if the river is deep or fast flowing).  If natural water is unavailable then tap water with some added salt is perfectly fine to use.  Submerge your crystals in the water and allow to sit for up to 24 hours.

SAGE

Much like Palo Santo, the smoke from burning dried sage can be used to cleanse crystals.  Sage smoke has a beautiful clean and fresh energy which is perfect for cleansing crystals or cleansing negative energy from your home.  Simply 'smudge' or pass your crystals through the smoke to cleanse.

MOON LIGHT

Using the light from the moon is another easy way to cleanse and charge your crystals simultaneously.

To do so, simply place your crystals somewhere where they will be exposed to the light of the moon (this can be outside or simply on your window sil), and come morning your crystals will be cleansed and charged and ready to use.
